The “a KuKu” (Peakaboo) Programme
The “a KuKu” Programme (Eng. Peakaboo) has been created to help children residing in children homes and foster families. Foster children are writing to Oriflame Childhood Foundation and Przyjaciółka Foundation about their dreams and they hope that one day their dreams will come true thanks to a KuKu. Children’s dreams range from simple wish for a bike to the dream of “someone to love them”. Each dream and need is just as special and the Foundations give special attention to it!
The Programme is an opportunity to develop passion and interests in children, to instil in them a positive perception of the world and their own future. Sometimes making a simple dream come true may change the entire life of such a child.
Foster families and children’s homes
The purpose of children's home and foster family is to create normal conditions for growth and development of children.
Special care is to be taken of the children’s upbringing. These children suffer from psychological disorders due to the loss of their biological parents or the incapacity of the biological parents to perform their social role. Frequently this may cause children to become secretive and introverted, which may sometimes require specialist assistance (psychological, pedagogical or medical).
In a family home or foster family, four to eight children are usually brought up, not including the biological children of the parents running such a home. Foster families simultaneously aim to create an atmosphere that encourages a feeling of safety, stability and the right development of children. However, there are many daily needs they need to take care of in the first place. Special dreams and wishes often remain just dreams.
Children stay at children’s home or with a foster family until their return to their own families, the regulation of the legal situation and adoption, or until they reach maturity, although the care can be prolonged until they graduate from high school.
The “a KuKu” Programme supports foster care forms, as we are convinced this is the best alternative for children needing to be brought up outside of their families and the best form of support for the child’s family to face their problems. We are even more convinced of this through letters we receive from foster parents. These are people who try to understand foster children and track the ebb and flow of children's behavioral problems. Please help us fulfil to children’s dreams!
